The micro-BUS:SI is a flexible addition to the exsting Villach city bus service, the BUS:SI. The micro-BUS:SI is a classic "MIKRO ÖV" service – on the one hand, it operates as an on-demand service to districts that previously had no connection to the public bus network (such as Serai or Gritschach), and on the other hand, it runs on new routes and strengthens existing bus lines.

The micro-BUS:SI is a small vehicle that can accomodate up to eight passengers, and it can be converted to provide a wheelchair-accessible space. What does "MICRO ÖV" actually mean?

The term Micro-ÖV stands for Mikro-Öffentlicher Verkehr, which translates to Micro-Public Transport. This involves the transportation of people in smaller vehicles, such as minibuses or taxis, on designated routes within a specific area. The goal of Mikro-ÖV is to offer a flexible and demand-oriented mobility solution, aiming to fill gaps in the public transport network and thus provide better accessibility in less densely populated areas.

New districts that previously had no connection to public transport are now being served by the micro-BUS:SI. The following locations now have micro-BUS:SI stops:

What are stops/stations now?

At the aforementioned locations, stops have been established. These are marked with signs. Here, the micro-BUS:SI picks up passengers - and it also brings them back. Here's how it works:

Call-on-demand service: Simply call the micro-BUS:SI HOTLINE T 04242 205 05 05 at least one hour before departure to register your ride.
The micro-BUS:SI then takes passengers to either the main train station or Hans-Gasser-Platz as central transfer points.
The operating hours of the micro-BUSare from Monday to Friday from 6 AM to 8 PM, Saturdays from 6 AM to 8 PM, and on Sundays and public holidays from 8 AM to 6 PM.
Return trip: The micro-BUS:SI will also take passengers back to the stop from Hauptbahnhof or Hans-Gasser-Platz - simply arrange the return trip at the same time as your outbound journey or call the hotline again.
Fare: Normal network fares - Carinthian Klimaticket also valid!

Note: The waiting time depends on the occupancy of the buses but is limited to a maximum of one hour. The demand-oriented service ensures that the bus only departs when it is actually needed. This eliminates empty trips and conserves resources.

micro-BUS:SI lines

The micro-BUS:SI also operates on regular routes - with the introduction of the micro-BUS:SI, there are new line stops to the districts of Vassach (Line M1), Maria Gail (Line M2), and Heiligengeist (Line M4).

Here are the micro-BUS:SI routes to the districts:

Vassach - ROUTE M1:

Hbf (Busbahnhof) - Vassach - Lind Schulzentrum - Hbf (Busbahnhof) (It is not possible to take bikes or e-scooters with you)

Maria Gail - ROUTE M2:

Hbf (Busbahnhof) - Hans-Gasser-Platz - Maria Gail Volksschule/Kindergarten - Tschinowitsch - Siemensstraße/Infineon (It is not possible to take bikes or e-scooters with you)

Heiligengeist - ROUTE M4 (Saturday/Sunday/Holiday):

Hbf (Busbahnhof) - Stadthalle - Obere Fellach - Heiligengeist (Itis not possible to take bikes or e-scooters with you)

The micro-BUS:SI serves the districts of Schütt and Wollanig as additional reinforcement to the existing bus services.

Schütt - Route 18

The micro-BUS:SI now runs on line 18 at additional times Monday to Friday - so that there is regular bus service to Schütt and Federaun. On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, the mikro-BUS:SI runs on line 18 as a scheduled service as required. Bicycles or e-scooters are not permitted. Wollanig - Route 8573

The micro-BUS:SI runs on line 8573 (Main Station - Wollanig - Lind Stadium - Central Station: Bicycles or e-scooters are not allowed. Departs Central Station East - Bus Platform C) from Monday to Saturday at additional times as well as on Sundays and public holidays as on demand service.

Heiligengeist - micro-BUS:SI Line M4

Line 8570 | Villach - Obere Fellach - Heiligengeist - Bad Bleiberg - Nötsch

Central Station West, exit bus platform F1
With line 8570 there is a daily connection on the Carinthian lines from Villach - Obere Fellach - Heiligengeist - Bad Bleiberg - Nötsch (departure Central Station West - bus platform F1). The micro-BUS:SI with line M4 supports this offer from the Kärntner Linien with additional on-demand trips as a regular service to Heiligengeist on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. What does Ruflinienverkehr mean?

Services marked with a telephone symbol fall under the category of 'on-demand service'. Here, the bus operates the service only if the ride request is registered by phone at least one hour prior to departure through the micro-BUS:SI HOTLINE at T 04242/205 05 05. For example: If the scheduled departure at the desired stop according to the timetable is at 10:33 AM, the ride request must be registered by phone no later than 09:32 AM.

Thanks to the demand-oriented service, the bus only operates when it is truly needed. This eliminates empty trips and conserves resources. The standard regional fare for the respective zone applies (Climate and Carinthia tickets are valid).
